About The Position

As a Payroll Specialist, you will process bi-weekly payroll for 2,000 employees, ensuring full compliance with federal and state tax regulations. You will also manage manual payroll checks, direct deposits, and handle voiding and reversing of issued checks. Your responsibilities will include collecting banking information for direct deposit setups, maintaining comprehensive payroll records, reconciling and preparing Union deduction payments, and addressing employee inquiries regarding payroll concerns.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in payroll processing.
  • Experience handling payroll for 500+ employees.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Data entry skills.
  • Experience with Workday.
  • Basic understanding of garnishments.
  • Must have experience processing in-house payroll.

Nice To Haves

  • English/Spanish bilingual is a plus.
  • Experience with manual payroll systems including timecards and bonuses.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Attention to detail with strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a dynamic environment.
  • Self-motivated with problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for 2,000 employees.
  • Understand and apply federal and state tax calculations.
  • Prepare and submit manual payroll checks and direct deposits.
  • Void and reverse issued checks as necessary.
  • Collect banking information for direct deposit setup.
  • Maintain and document all payroll records accurately.
  • Reconcile and prepare Union deduction payments.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues.
  • Process withholding orders in accordance with Federal and State laws.
