Under the supervision of the payroll supervisor, the payroll specialist is responsible for processing the agency's payroll, exporting and importing fiscal and payroll data to generate various reports, and calculating and preparing employee benefits billing packages including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and Worker's Comp. The role involves setting up and maintaining confidential employee records, preparing payroll and worker's compensation journal vouchers, and developing subsidiary ledgers for employee and dependent benefits, including COBRA. Additionally, the specialist will assist with accounts payable duties, agency salary budget projections, corporate, retirement, and worker’s comp audits, and year-end schedules. Other responsibilities include processing agency vendor levies, addressing employee payroll questions, processing employee expense reimbursements, managing retirement plan calculations, loans, payments, and monthly bank reconciliations, and preparing required government reports.
