This job processes the biweekly payroll of all non-management employees. Handles all payroll office functions in the absence of the manager. Ensures that essential information is communicated to payroll leadership. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years of experience in bookkeeping, payroll systems and processing or an accounting setting; OR 1 year of payroll experience with a bachelor’s degree.
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively and professionally work with people from all backgrounds.
  • Organization and prioritization skills and ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Decision-making and delegation skills.
  • Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Runs computer payroll programs and subroutines to process biweekly payroll for non-management employees.
  • Initiates time and attendance processes and follows through to completion.
  • Enters all adjustments in Lawson, maintains graduate medical education and research standard time records.
  • Completes or responds to verifications of employment from various lending institutions, local agencies, or other organizations and completes unemployment fraud reports, etc.
  • Creates and initiates transfer of direct deposit file and federal and FICA taxes.
  • Initiates and follows through with printing, sealing, sorting, distributing and mailing of checks, receipts and W2s.
  • Advises employees on matters related to payroll policies and procedures, including clarifications on earnings, withholding and other deductions.
  • Prepares manual checks, stops payment notices, and files and makes copies of payment records for various departments.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
