Job Description Typical duties include but are not limited to: Assists in the processing of bi-weekly payroll. Reviews payroll reports for accuracy, performs necessary entry and adjustments. Maintains the online time keeping system. Assists with access issues. Monitors the submission and approval of recorded time and time off requests. Performs new hire Social Security verifications with the Social Security Administration. Prepares bi-weekly payroll deduction registers, supplier invoice requests, and vendor payments. Processes off-cycle payroll check payments. Responds to payroll inquiries. Researches and resolves issues related to payroll and reported time. Assists with the preparation and distribution of W-2 reprints. Assists with the calculation and reporting of non-cash fringe benefits. Assists with the testing of payroll related system configurations and upgrades. Other Duties: Adheres to established standards on the use and protection of restricted data as outlined in FGCU Policy 3.042. Responsible for completing the ‘Get Secure’ training course annually. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • This position requires a high school diploma and four years of relevant full-time experience.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Experience with general accounting procedures.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, or closely related field.
  • Payroll experience in a higher education setting.
  • Experience with Workday Payroll and time tracking modules.
  • Knowledge of local, state, federal, and University rules, regulations, policies, and laws pertaining to payroll and tax issues.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn Banner or similar enterprise payroll management software application.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects.
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations when numerous and competing demands are involved.
