About The Position

Robert Half, one of FORTUNE’s World’s Most Admired Companies and a Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For is hiring for a Payroll Specialist I to join the Payroll Operations team. The team provides high quality support to internal and external customers by preparing and processing final checks, W4's, direct deposits, timesheets and other payroll related documents within the published service level agreements while maintaining audit controls. Understands Robert Half Company payroll processes and policies. Performs a variety of payroll operational tasks to resolve or assist with customer service issues. Utilizes the payroll system to view employee payroll information related to deductions, earnings, time entry, overtime calculations, CTO and other payroll processing transactions. Performs end-to-end payroll processing transactions including calculating final checks, processing tax adjustments, garnishments, stop pays, voids, direct deposit reversals and adjustments to earnings. Reviews error reports, audit reports, bank reports, costing allocations, escheatment/ unclaimed property and other payroll reports to ensure the accuracy of payroll transactions and the timely delivery of payments to employees. Produces manual checks as needed. Verifies that all necessary transaction approvals are obtained and documented. Must be adaptable to the fluctuations in the volume of work and be aware of the payroll cycle to meet strict deadlines for timely payroll processing. Acts as the first line of response and resolution for customer (employee) inquiries by answering questions, determining the likely solution for issues, and resolving or routing issues for handling. Understands, applies and communicates payroll processing guidelines to customers and business partners. Demonstrates professionalism when unanticipated issues come up. Works quickly and effectively with team members, leader and other departments to find solutions. Requires excellent listening and communication skills, the ability to translate information given by customers into payroll terms, and relay information and instructions to customers regarding the resolution of errors and corrections. Uses grammatically correct and appropriate language in communications including phone, email, letters and online chat tools. Provides clear and concise information and instructions both oral and written.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or the equivalent, college coursework or degree preferred
  • 3 years of related work experience.
  • Proven customer service skills with previous experience.
  • 1+ year previous payroll experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft applications in (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to use online knowledge base applications, and quickly learn new systems and software.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting work priorities.
  • Ability to collaborate with team to produce deliverables.
  • Ability to meet or exceed productivity and quality standards.
  • Ability to understand and operate in an environment with regulatory/compliance requirements.
