JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of biweekly payroll for assigned employee groups. Reviews and enters payroll-related data, maintains time and attendance records, and ensures payroll transactions are processed in accordance with established procedures and applicable policies. Escalates complex issues to senior payroll staff as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Basic proficiency in payroll or HRIS systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll information
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1–3 years of payroll or related administrative experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Reviews employee time worked, time-off balances, commissions, bonuses, and other earnings to ensure completeness and accuracy prior to payroll processing.
  • Calculates and inputs payroll data, including wages, overtime, and standard deductions such as taxes and benefits.
  • Communicates with supervisors regarding discrepancies related to authorized overtime, shift differentials, absences, or other payroll-related issues.
  • Processes approved changes to employee information, including pay rates, withholding elections, addresses, and benefit deductions within the payroll system.
  • Reviews payroll registers and reports to verify accuracy and completeness prior to final submission.
  • Sets up standard garnishments, child support orders, and other court-ordered deductions in accordance with provided documentation.
  • Prepares manual payroll calculations for corrections or terminations under direction of senior payroll staff.
  • Maintains payroll records and documentation in compliance with company procedures.
  • Escalates complex payroll discrepancies, tax issues, or regulatory questions to Payroll Specialist II or Payroll Supervisor.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
