As a Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payment of wages and maintaining compliance with company, federal, state, and local laws. The Payroll Manager will collaborate closely with various stakeholders to guarantee smooth payroll operations and provide exceptional service to employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of payroll experience, with at least 3+ years of experience having managed multi-state payrolls and taxes in a high-volume environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll processes, including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
  • Possess strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must have excellent people skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Develop strong working relationships throughout the organization at all levels.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities.
  • Must be able to effectively manage changes and support impacted areas of the business.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Strong understanding of ERISA compliance

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of a multi-state payroll
  • Process bi-weekly payroll, which includes timesheet reconciliation
  • Calculate wages, withholdings, deductions, process wage garnishments, and perform other compensation-related tasks
  • Manage payroll vendor relationship with ADP, ensuring high-quality services and resolving any issues or concerns
  • Maintain payroll records within ADP Workforce Now to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and compliance
  • Develop and implement payroll policies, procedures, and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Responsible for setting up new payroll accounts with individual states as needed
  • Reconcile quarterly 941, reconcile and process annual W2’s
  • Prepare and file payroll tax returns and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Prepare journal entries related to payroll and benefits
  • Assist with annual payroll audits and ensuring all documentation is in place for government audits
  • Collaborate with HR and finance departments to ensure accurate employee data and setup starting with new hire onboarding
  • Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and government contracting regulations
  • Provide necessary reports for 401k audit
  • Provide necessary reports for Worker’s Compensation audit
  • Employee Stock Purchase Program administration and tracking
  • Perform payroll liability reconciliations (HSA, Stocks, PTO, voluntary deductions, etc.)
  • Recording of payroll entries into accounting system
  • Record payroll accrual
  • Prepare monthly headcount changes, salaries changes, reports, etc. needed for monthly reporting
  • Reconcile expatriate payroll to invoices received from international parent organization and recalculate when necessary
  • Reconcile expatriate deductions to actuals to report on expatriate W2
  • Reconcile workable hours to the hours reported in ERP and track down missing employee time
  • All other responsibilities as assigned
