Summary : The Payroll Manager ensures accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations in accordance with company policies outlined in the personnel manual. This role oversees all payroll functions, including payroll processing, tax reporting, administration of voluntary and involuntary deductions (such as garnishments and levies), procedure updates, and preparation of management reports. The Payroll Manager independently manages the full payroll lifecycle. Essential Duties and Functions: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or equivalent education/experience.
  • 3-5 years of payroll experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and electronic payroll systems.
  • Strong commitment to confidentiality.
  • Analytical, methodical, and process-driven mindset.
  • Commitment to continuous personal development.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.

  • Knowledge of employment laws and payroll regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for large, diverse employee populations.
  • Administer multiple payroll disbursements, including deferred compensation and other payroll-related contributions.
  • Maintain and manage 401(k), employee headcount, HSA (benefits), and other accounting-related spreadsheets; provide requested reporting to the Brown & Brown corporate office.
  • Ensure accuracy within the timekeeping system by updating employee earnings, hours worked, and other payroll data as needed.
  • Review payroll and timekeeping data to confirm compliance with company policies outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Partner with Human Resources, Finance, and other departments to support efficient payroll operations and alignment with broader business processes.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, paychecks, and deductions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Verify tax withholdings and monitor payroll tax payments; assist the corporate office with establishing and closing payroll tax withholding accounts as required.
  • Safeguard sensitive and confidential information with the highest degree of discretion and integrity.
