About The Position

The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of payroll administration, including payroll processing, tax compliance, garnishment management, and payroll reporting. This role ensures accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. The Payroll Manager reports directly to the Vice President of Finance.

  • Ability to learn and utilize the organization's payroll systems quickly; experience with ADP Workforce Now is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of payroll experience, including processing payroll for 750--1,000 employees.
  • Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience required; experience within the casino/gaming or hospitality industry and/or with ADP payroll systems preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Commission.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with payroll system implementation is highly desirable.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and uphold North Fork Mono Casino's culture and Service Standards at all times.
  • Serve as a backup to the Payroll Specialist, supporting the preparation and processing of payroll in accordance with departmental and company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date Team Member records within payroll and HR systems.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with Team Members across all levels of the organization.
  • Research payroll inquiries and provide timely reconciliation and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Assist the Payroll Specialist with Verifications of Employment, Court Orders, and Garnishment documentation.
  • Oversee biweekly payroll processing to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare, reconcile, and remit payroll-related taxes to the Accounting Team. Ensure all tax payments and filings are completed accurately and within required deadlines.
  • Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts, including deductions for license fees, gift shop purchases, and other items.
  • Maintain and audit PTO accrual balances, performing quarterly audits and retaining documentation for review.
  • Process and transmit 401(k) and other payroll-related data to appropriate providers.
  • Maintain payroll records in accordance with retention standards and internal policies.
  • Lead year-end payroll activities, ensuring accurate and timely issuance of W‑2 forms.
  • Generate and deliver payroll reports for HR, Accounting, and other departments as needed.
  • Maintain the Gaming License log and ensure appropriate payroll deductions are applied.
  • Provide training to ADP end‑users and ensure supervisors are reviewing and approving payroll records accurately.
  • Prepare payroll-related journal entries, benefits reconciliations, invoices, garnishment entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare required tax filings, including Forms 941, 531, W‑2, and others as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
