About The Position

The Payroll Manager, U.S. manages day-to-day operations of the Company’s Payroll Department. Ensures all processing of the weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payroll for Region North America. The Manager will collaborate closely with Human Resources on compliance and business initiatives, and will partner with the Finance team in ensuring proper recording and cut-off of accounting for labor expenses and accruals. Researches and interprets applicable regulatory requirements and resolves tax, withholding, garnishment, and wage/hour issues for payroll processing. Responds to auditing and regulatory inquiries. Creates standard operating procedures, monitors monthly journal entries and accrual schedules. May respond to and resolve client inquiries. May work with system programmers and/or vendor to achieve solutions or administer company payroll system with outside service provider. This position requires working onsite 3 days per week at our U.S. headquarters in Lake Zurich, IL. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business required.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Must have 3+ years of previous experience managing employees.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state payroll laws and IRS regulations pertaining to payroll compliance.
  • Experience working with Time & Attendance payroll and HRMS systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is preferred.
  • Experience in working in a publicly traded company is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the time and attendance and payroll process to ensure timely and accurate processing of complex payroll, tax filling, and reporting including, weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payroll processing and third-party payments.
  • Maintain the payroll system, ensuring that HR input is captured, and all manual updates reviewed and approved.
  • Review payroll runs prior to submission.
  • Prepare/review all payroll related reconciliations.
  • Work as the primary contact for payroll service provider to ensure maximum value and high-quality performance and support.
  • Partner with HR team to oversee human resources activity and validate employees are paid in accordance with company policy.
  • Manage payroll staff.
  • Hire, train, coach, mentor, and develop payroll team members while leading the goal setting, feedback, and performance management process.
  • Ensure employee and management inquiries are addressed in a timely fashion.
  • Oversee expatriate assignments regarding pay issues.
  • Identify and recommend changes and/or process improvements.
  • Document and implement changes as required.
  • Partner with benefits department to assist with 401K review/audit and benefit plan audits to ensure deductions are correct.
  • Responsible for payroll audits to ensure compliance with various laws and governmental agencies.
  • Participate in the payroll department audit processes, requests, and relationships with both internal and external auditors, including but not limited to workers’ compensation and retirement plan data.
  • Participate in new system design, enhancements, and implementation.
  • Responsible for providing Finance Dept with GL entries after each payroll.
  • Responsible for general ledger mapping to ensure proper recording of labor expenses in the accounting system.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforce adherence to requirements.
  • Monitor the garnishment process, including reporting and payment procedures.
