About The Position

Tucker Ellis LLP is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to join our Cleveland office. This role is primarily onsite and will oversee all aspects of payroll administration in a fast-paced professional services environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical payroll expertise, hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now, and a high level of discretion and accuracy. Prior experience in a law firm or corporate setting is strongly preferred.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7+ years of payroll experience in a corporate or professional services environment; law firm experience strongly preferred
  • Completion of an undergraduate, Bachelor’s degree.
  • Hands-on, direct experience with ADP Workforce Now is required
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll regulations, tax compliance, and wage and hour laws
  • Experience managing multi-state payrolls
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments

Responsibilities

  • Manage and process end-to-end payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
  • Serve as the primary administrator for ADP Workforce Now, including payroll processing, reporting, and system maintenance
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations, including multi-state payroll requirements
  • Oversee payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and coordination with third-party vendors
  • Manage year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and audits
  • Partner with HR, Finance and other Firm teams and employees on employee changes, benefits deductions, garnishments, bonuses, and special payroll runs
  • Prepare and reconcile payroll-related general ledger entries and reports
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries with professionalism and confidentiality
  • Develop and maintain payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Support internal and external audits as needed
  • Oversee the payroll team members
  • Manage payroll audits and lead all payroll related projects
