About The Position

Under general supervision of the Senior Payroll and Operations Analyst and as part of the Executive Business Office, the Payroll & Financial Operations Analyst is responsible for payroll, timekeeping, purchasing, cost-benefit studies, financial reconciliation, and maintaining all policies, procedures, practices. The incumbent supports several units with coordinated financial, payroll, and operational support from the Executive Business Office. The Analyst works independently and assignments vary among different functions, such as payroll, timekeeping, purchasing, financial services, resource/space, etc. As a representative of units under campus administration, uses professional and courteous interpersonal, verbal, and written skills to establish and maintain productive relationships with all levels of university administration, faculty, staff and students, distinguished guests, and a diverse public constituency with the utmost tact and diplomacy appropriate to the office. Uses professional financial services concepts. Applies organization policies and procedures to resolve a variety of moderately complicated issues. Works on payroll and financial services problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of financial processes, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to apply policies and procedures to standard work processes
  • Strong knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems.
  • Proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, analytical skills, service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, attention to detail, ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment and decision making.
  • Ability to function effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
  • Proficiency in payroll processing in an enterprise system.
  • Exposure to payroll or financial concepts.
  • Proficiency in PeopleSoft or UC PATH.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in an office environment.
