We are looking for a Payroll Associate to join the Payroll team within the Corporate Finance department. They’re responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of the firm’s payrolls across multiple states and entities. This includes a combination of semi-monthly (exempt, salaried pay groups) and bi-weekly (non-exempt, hourly pay groups) schedules. This role will handle day‑to‑day payroll operations, maintain employee payroll records, partner with HR and Finance to deliver a seamless employee experience, and support compliance with federal and state regulations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail‑oriented, and committed to maintaining confidentiality while working in a fast‑paced environment.

Requirements

  • Have 4+ years of payroll experience (multi‑state payroll experience preferred).
  • Possess strong knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations.
  • Have experience with payroll/HRIS systems (Paycom preferred—ADP, Workday, etc. will adjust as needed).
  • Pay high attention to detail with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Can manage confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (advanced Excel skills required—pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Be familiar with payroll tax filings and reconciliations (preferred).
  • Have experience in a professional services or multi‑entity environment (preferred).
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field (preferred).
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with processing a combination of semi-monthly (exempt, salaried pay groups) and bi-weekly (non-exempt, hourly pay groups) payrolls for 2,400+ employees, while ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and hour/wage regulations.
  • Review and verify timecards, PTO, overtime, and special pay entries in Paycom, including but not limited to child support orders, garnishments, levies, tax set up, and third-party sick.
  • Audit payroll data for accuracy, as well as identify and resolve discrepancies prior to payroll submission.
  • Calculate and process adjustments, manual checks, and off‑cycle payrolls (as needed).
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and tax laws.
  • Assist in year‑end processes, including but not limited to W‑2 review and distribution.
  • Generate payroll reports for Finance, HR, and leadership teams.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for payroll‑related inquiries, while ensuring timely and professional resolution.
  • Support employees with questions regarding pay, direct deposit, tax withholdings, and payroll system navigation.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in handling payroll and employee information.
  • Maintain accurate employee records in the payroll/HRIS system.
  • Assist with testing, system updates, and process improvements related to payroll workflows.
  • Coordinate with HR on new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and employee status updates.
