About The Position

American GI Forum - National Veterans Outreach Program is a nonprofit organization. Our mission is to establish and maintain a comprehensive community service agency with a diversified funding source serving the needs of Veterans, their families, and other individuals of the community who are in need. Our goal is to establish innovative programs of service for the contemporary needs, through an expansion and growth policy that will seek complimentary services that will generate self-sustaining mechanisms for the organization. SUMMARY: This position is responsible for maintaining and supporting the payroll and benefit processes.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or six months to one-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Computer skills required:
  • Payroll Systems – ADP Workforce Now (Preferred)
  • Spreadsheet Software (Excel)
  • Human Resource Systems – ADP Workforce Now (Preferred)
  • Word Processing Software (Word)
  • Electronic Mail Software (Outlook)
  • Presentation software (PowerPoint)
  • At least 1 year of related experience
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles or payroll practices.
  • Experience working with accounting or payroll software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • High numerical aptitude.

Responsibilities

  • Collects time sheet data and payroll information.
  • Enters data into payroll system
  • Calculates wages, benefits, tax deductions, etc.
  • Prepares and processes paychecks and cash deposits.
  • Maintains accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions.
  • Verifies income statements are accurate at the end of the year
  • Responds to payroll-related inquiries and resolving concerns.
  • Prepares financial reports for accounting and auditing purposes.
  • Prepare periodic payroll reports for review as needed by management.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of various benefit/insurance plans
  • Respond to benefit related questions from employees
  • Assist in notifying insurance carriers of new enrollments, terminations, employee changes etc.
  • Assist in maintaining employee benefit records in HRIS system ensuring accurate and timely processing of new enrollments, terminations and COBRA elections and notifications
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by Payroll and Benefits Coordinator
