PCSI is looking for a Payroll Analyst to support our Payroll and Accounting teams! The Payroll Analyst bridges these two departments by preparing and analyzing payroll reports, supporting payroll audits, and reconciling payroll accounts to the general ledger to ensure accuracy and compliance. The Payroll Analyst plays a key part in improving payroll systems and processes, supporting system implementations or upgrades, and recommending best practices. This is a highly collaborative role, partnering with other teams on cross-departmental data and providing processing support and coaching to Payroll Specialists. We're looking for expertise in general accounting audits and internal controls combined with an understanding of payroll processing to effectively support and communicate between both departments. What You'll Do as Payroll Analyst: Payroll Analysis, Reporting, and Compliance Prepare accounting journal entries and account analysis. Support payroll audits and provide required documentation and explanations. Reconcile payroll accounts to the general ledger and investigate and resolve discrepancies. Prepare and analyze various payroll and tax reconciliations weekly, semi-monthly, monthly, quarterly and annually, to include the labor distribution reporting. Perform detailed monthly budget wage variance analysis for all employee groups. Prepare and review payroll reports for internal and external stakeholders. Assist with year-end processes including reconciliations, payment summary generation and W-2 processing. Assist Payroll Manager in annual audit of financials. Prepare and maintain tracking of departmental goals and objectives. Maintain and update employee payroll records, including earnings, deductions, and taxes. Manage and execute processes with third party service providers accurately and on time. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and company policies. Payroll Systems and Processes Participate in implementing new Payroll management systems or upgrading existing ones. Ensure systems are set-up and updated to reflect the current employee base, including wages, benefits, sick and vacation time in line with contracts (union and non-union). Critically review and analyze current payroll, benefits and tax procedures to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations. Troubleshoot payroll system issues, identify root causes, and implement fixes or improvements. Act as a liaison between business units and technical teams to translate business needs into system or application requirements. Collaboration and Support Provide effective leadership, mentoring, and coaching to the field payroll administrative team. Maintain proactive relationships with People Team, Finance, IT and Legal teams to ensure Payroll processes are designed to meet current and evolving business and legislative requirements. Ensure the availability and timely distribution of relevant and accurate Payroll information to assist strategic and operational decision making. Communicate with People Team and Accounting to review and reconcile cross-departmental data. Support other members of the Accounting department as required. Provide additional payroll processing support, including overpayment recouping and manual payroll inputs (i.e. FMLA, PTO accruals). Act as backup to Payroll Specialists as needed.
