About The Position

Sabel Systems is seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator to lead and manage end-to-end payroll processing in a GovCon (government contracting) environment. This role ensures accurate payroll execution across multi-state employees and legal entities, maintains compliance with federal regulations and audit standards, and supports organizational growth through scalable payroll processes and future acquisition integrations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining payroll accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency while contributing to process improvements and automation initiatives. This is a fully remote position open to candidates residing anywhere within the United States. Candidates must be available to work Eastern Time Zone business hours to support payroll processing cycles and internal stakeholder needs. Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, without employer sponsorship for employment visa status, now or in the future.
  • 5+ years of payroll processing experience in a government contracting environment
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations)
  • Experience with multi-state payroll and compliance requirements
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and documentation discipline
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential payroll information

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Paycom or Rippling
  • Experience with GovCon accounting systems such as PROCAS, Unanet, or Deltek Costpoint
  • Experience supporting payroll integration during mergers and acquisitions

Responsibilities

  • Process biweekly and semimonthly payroll for multi-state employees
  • Oversee payroll tax compliance, benefit deductions, garnishments, and multi-state registrations
  • Validate employee timesheets in accordance with DCAA-compliant timekeeping policies
  • Prepare payroll journal entries and perform balance sheet reconciliations
  • Reconcile payroll tax liabilities, benefit deductions, and accrued payroll accounts
  • Maintain payroll system data integrity and internal controls over payroll processing
  • Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support payroll due diligence, integration, and harmonization for mergers and acquisitions
  • Ensure payroll systems scale to support company growth and future acquisitions
  • Maintain compliance with FAR cost principles and DCAA audit standards
