About The Position

Payroll Administrator The Payroll Administrator reports directly to the Human Resources Manager in fulfilling daily operations including but not limited supporting the operations and standards for the Transdev location managers and staff. The objective is to make sure that all processes and compliance for Transdev are being met, the operation runs smoothly, and all staff is functioning within the guidelines set forth by the location Project Manager and Transdev policy. This position is based Chula Vista, CA. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required
  • Minimum of 1 years administration , and payroll experience.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems (ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred) and related software (Excel, VDS, or similar).
  • Ability to make sound, timely decisions and resolve payroll issues independently.
  • Must be self-lead and able to work with minimal instructions provided except when necessary
  • Ability to train and guide others effectively.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
  • Ability to organize and perform work efficiently, strong attention to details
  • Must be able to work Sunday shift when needed and or be flexible with work schedules as required.
  • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
  • Be eligible to work the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future (if based in the US).
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Higher education preferred.
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage all aspects of payroll processing for 1000 employees , including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, union dues, and other deductions.
  • Maintain and update payroll systems (ADP, VDS – internal system ) with new hires, terminations, pay changes, and other updates.
  • Make timely decisions to resolve payroll issues and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Review and approve timecards, direct deposits, final paychecks, and related payroll transactions.
  • Train and support an HR payroll backup to ensure seamless coverage when needed.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate payroll records and reports; support internal and external audits.
  • Process related accounts payable tasks, including pension, insurance, and union payments.
  • Act as the main point of contact for payroll inquiries, providing clear, timely communication to employees.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to payroll processes and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
