As a Payment Specialist I -Physical you will ensure that members checks and lockbox/mail payments are processed accurately, in a timely manner, and comply with procedural and regulatory standards. Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.
  • 1 year of related experience in check or cash handling.

Nice To Haves

  • Financial institution with specific experience in Item Processing preferred

Responsibilities

  • Processes all incoming mail deposits and loan payments. Reviews all available account information and verifies the accuracy of each transaction to ensure proper account processing.
  • Processes chargebacks in a timely manner to reduce Credit Union exposure to loss.
  • Processes debits to members accounts for returned deposit items. Prepares and mails notification package to members.
  • Processes deposit batches from SCCU HQ departments through branch capture and reconcile totals for each department’s daily deposit reports.
  • Balances monetary instruments and daily work and “cash drawer” to ensure member account integrity.
  • Assists with research requests such as proof of payment, copies of checks, and verification of payments.
  • Responsible for conducting OFAC reviews and determining the need for further review with BSA.
  • Reviews of physical checks for fraudulent activity and reports activity to Fraud Management.
  • Ensures compliance with credit union policies and procedures, Federal Reserve Operating Circular 3.
  • Remains knowledgeable and current in all aspects of Regulation CC, Regulation D, Regulation E, Bank Secrecy Act, Money Laundering and OFAC compliance. Additional training and certifications will be completed as required.
