About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payment Processing / Loan Servicing Specialist to support accurate and timely application of loan payments within our servicing system. This role plays a critical part in maintaining loan account balances, coordinating with internal teams, and ensuring compliance with servicing, ACH, and reconciliation standards. Auto lending experience is strongly preferred; mortgage servicing experience will also be considered.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in payment processing or loan servicing
  • Auto finance experience strongly preferred; mortgage servicing experience will be considered
  • Intermediate knowledge of NACHA rules and ACH processing standards
  • Strong understanding of loan servicing systems and payment application processes
  • Experience working with CRM and servicing platforms
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding performance expectations

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate loan account balances and amortization schedules following payment activity
  • Apply all payments (check, ACH, lockbox, recurring) timely and accurately according to designated payment distribution
  • Process and deposit check payments in a timely and accurate manner
  • Perform daily reconciliation of payments from all sources and distribute reports within internal service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Apply and manage lockbox payments within the servicing system
  • Reverse and reapply payments when necessary
  • Work unapplied payments queues and ensure proper application
  • Coordinate with Loan Servicing, Collections, Customer Service, and IT teams to resolve payment discrepancies, disputes, and account corrections
  • Assist with payoff quotes ensuring all payments are accurately reflected prior to calculation
  • Support escrow, insurance, fee adjustments, loan modifications, unwinds, and net funds processing
  • Waive fees according to company policy
  • Set up and maintain recurring payment schedules in the servicing system
  • Review ACH setup reports to ensure same‑day ACH payments are processed correctly
  • Review NSF fee reports to confirm proper fee assessments
  • Retrieve incoming mail and distribute to appropriate teams
  • Support month-end processing and ensure account data accuracy
