About The Position

The Paver Operator is responsible for safely operating the asphalt paver machine, ensuring smooth and efficient placement of asphalt on various paving projects. This position requires strong technical knowledge of paving equipment, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work as part of a team to complete projects on time and within budget.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a paver operator or similar role in the construction or paving industry.
  • Strong knowledge of asphalt paving techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
  • Ability to operate paving machinery effectively and safely.
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Paver Equipment: Operate and maintain an asphalt paver to spread and level asphalt for roadways, parking lots, driveways, and other asphalt surfacing projects.
  • Set up and Adjust Equipment: Ensure the paver is properly set up before work begins and make adjustments during the job to ensure optimal paving results.
  • Monitor Paving Process: Continuously monitor the paver’s operation, making adjustments to maintain an even, smooth surface.
  • Collaborate with Crew: Work alongside laborers, truck drivers, and other operators to ensure materials are delivered and placed according to project specifications.
  • Ensure Quality Control: Verify the quality of the asphalt being laid and ensure it meets industry standards and project requirements.
  • Safety and Maintenance: Adhere to safety guidelines, ensuring all equipment is in good working order. Conduct pre-operation inspections, and perform basic maintenance tasks to keep the equipment functional and safe.
  • Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot and address equipment malfunctions, adjusting the paver or stopping work to prevent damage to the project or equipment.
  • Report Progress: Keep track of project progress and report any delays or issues to the Foreman or Supervisor promptly.
