About The Position

Under the general direction of the Senior Manager, Signs & Markings is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and construction of airport pavements, including concrete and asphalt surfaces. This role encompasses strategic planning, budgeting, and coordination of activities to ensure safe and efficient pavement operations throughout the airport.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Five (5) plus years of experience in public works or construction focusing on pavement maintenance, including two (2) years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
  • Possession of a valid Class B Commercial driver's license or the ability to obtain one within a designated probation period.
  • Knowledge of public works pavement maintenance principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with maintenance planning and control techniques.
  • Understanding of the operating characteristics and maintenance needs of pavement maintenance equipment.
  • Proficiency in concrete and asphalt construction techniques and associated safety regulations.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with team members and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and evaluate the work of subordinates efficiently.
  • Skill in the use of tools, materials, and equipment associated with pavement maintenance.
  • Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge in accordance with TSA requirements and DFW Airport’s Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from the date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.
  • This is a designated safety-sensitive position requiring drug and alcohol screening before employment and random screenings during the length of employment.
  • Works in both office and outdoor maintenance environments, often exposed to varying weather conditions.
  • Operates equipment requiring hand and foot coordination and uses near visual acuity for diagnosing pavement issues.
  • Communicates via telephone, two-way radio, and in person; drives to various locations on airport property.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the Pavement Maintenance team by establishing performance standards, conducting employee performance evaluations, administering human resource policies, and providing staff training and development.
  • Develops, reviews, and implements safety procedures in compliance with regulations to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Collaborate with other departments and external contractors; establish priorities and adjust schedules to meet emergency demands and operational needs.
  • Estimates material and labor requirements; records actual time and materials expended on projects and maintains accurate records and reports.
  • Researches and analyzes products and services; prepares and manages the annual operating budget, ensuring adherence to financial guidelines.
  • Requisitions tools and materials; monitors inventory levels and coordinates with Procurement & Materials Management (PMM) to maintain adequate stock.
  • Ensures compliance with environmental regulations regarding pavement operations and communicates necessary adjustments to relevant personnel.
  • Serves as a mentor to Pavement Maintenance Supervisors and Technicians, fostering career development and promoting best practices within the team.
  • Plans and designs for future jobs, ensuring safety and compliance with applicable regulations during maintenance and construction activities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
