As a Pattern Development Engineer for JD Foundry located in Waterloo, IA, you will: · Develop robust toolingstrategies for molding, coring, core handling, gating, cleaning and blasting of new product program and current product castings. In addition, you will: · Be responsible for early integration and collaboration with Engineering to help shape Foundry tooling concepts to meet customer needs as well as Foundry Design for Manufacturing Guidelines · Facilitate quality planning activities for new products and designs · Interpret and act on layout & X-ray data to deliver castings that meet program timelines · Manage projects to deliver on time at/or under budget and meeting current quality expectations · Support strategic sourcing initiatives to ensure the Foundry has a stable portfolio of castings across all business cycles.

Requirements

  • Experience in foundry manufacturing processes
  • Experience in foundry tooling design including but not limited to: patterns, core boxes, core setting devices
  • Experience in delivering new products
  • Experience with casting design or developing tooling for large complex grey and ductile iron castings
  • Bachelors degree in engineering or other discipline, or equivalent practical work experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with John Deere Enterprise Product Delivery Process
  • Experience with Creo Parametric or other modeling software
  • Experience with MagmaSoft or other foundry simulation software
  • Experience in roles that required strong problem-solving skills
  • Experience in roles that required demonstration of excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret CAD, X-Ray or other data, and transfer that to improved tooling strategy or design
