About The Position

This individual will be trained to perform all the tasks and responsibilities of a Superintendent. The successful candidate will lead the operation of the assigned department safely, efficiently, and effectively. This individual will be responsible for investigating incidents, enhancing processes, and developing processes and procedures to drive continuous improvement. The position will play a pivotal role in ensuring operational excellence and delivering high-quality tooling in a timely a manner.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Proven ability to conceptualize projects and directives given by coworkers and employees verbally and from print, or written format.
  • Experience working with various materials (e.g. iron, steel, aluminum, plastics, composites, adhesives, epoxies)
  • Proven experience to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
  • Experienced in utilizing Microsoft Office programs such as Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, and word
  • Experienced self-starter and strong desire to learn new skills and create innovative solutions.
  • Comfortable with influencing and challenging others in a constructive manner to overcome obstacles and reinforce accountability.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CNC machine programming and operation experience preferred.
  • Foundry operations, machine shop or similar metals industry preferred.
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling (preferably Solidworks) and CAD.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes the culture, the mission and vision, and the core values of the company. This includes adherence to and promotion of the company safety beliefs, employee engagement, competencies, code of conduct, and other policies and procedures.
  • Reviews new product requests (NPR’s) to help ensure that casting design details are as “foundry friendly” as possible.
  • Evaluate tooling requests to ensure that design details are as “pattern shop friendly” as possible while still meeting the needs of the EJ’s Manufacturing facilities. This includes verification of materials appropriate for the requested tooling.
  • Works with Procurement and suppliers to coordinate ordering and evaluating materials, cutting tools and shop supplies.
  • Estimate approximate cost (labor and materials) for new and reworked tooling requests.
  • Trouble shoot manufacturing problems and determine the best course of action or remedy in regards to any necessary tooling rework.
  • Coordinate work flow in CNC programming area. Assists with various CNC programming related needs or questions.
  • Works directly with Pattern Shop Supervisor and Leaders to provide direction for on-time job completion.
  • Works directly with Tooling Designers to evaluate and ensure proper pattern design.
  • Works with supervision and Human Resources to oversee and respond to various personnel needs/concerns.
  • Works to maintain current processes and pursuing areas of growth for future processes and equipment.
  • Creates, maintains and reviews periodic maintenance and work order processes with shop Supervisor and Leader.
  • Helps facilitate any building related repairs and maintenance as well as future facility related projects.
  • Directs training and onboarding of team members to improve work performance and familiarize them with company policies and procedures.
