About The Position

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is looking for Part-time Patrol Deputies to join our ranks! We are a very progressive law enforcement agency that promotes a Community Policing philosophy. Our dedicated and elite Patrol Deputies: Prevent crime by explaining and enforcing applicable federal, state, county, and local laws and ordinances; teaching preventative, protective, and defensive tactics; mediating disputes; patrolling assigned area; responding to notices of disturbances; conducting searches; observing suspicious activities; detaining suspects. Apprehend suspects by responding to complaints and calls for help; observing violations; making arrests. Conduct criminal investigations by gathering evidence; interviewing victims, witnesses and suspects. And MORE! Come join our team and culture of engaged employees. This part-time position requires a commitment to work at least 120hrs per year (and offers a maximum of 1,040hrs per year). Pay is $32.29/hr and is eligible for COLA increases. Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Hold a HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Hold a valid Maine Driver’s License
  • Reside in the State of Maine and not more than 15 miles outside the Cumberland County border
  • Be certified by the MCJA to work as a patrol officer
