The Patient Transporter at Northeast Georgia Health System plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compassionate movement of patients, equipment, and materials throughout the hospital. This position supports the flow of patient care by transporting patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed between departments such as surgery, diagnostics, and nursing units while maintaining their comfort, dignity, and safety at all times. The transporter practices proper transfer techniques, follows infection control and safety protocols, and verifies patient identity before every transport. They communicate effectively with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare staff to coordinate timely and accurate patient movement and provide comfort measures such as warm blankets and reassurance during transfers. Additional responsibilities include cleaning and inspecting transport equipment, assisting in emergency situations, delivering medical supplies, and accurately documenting all transport activities. Through professionalism, strong communication, and teamwork, the patient transporter upholds the organization’s core values of compassion, excellence, and integrity while contributing to a positive and efficient patient care experience. Reports to a Supervisor or Assistant Nurse Manager/Manger.
