As a Patient Transporter, you will:

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Equivalent Diploma (G.E.D.)
  • Six (6) months of responsible work experience in a Hospital or Medical Care Facility preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support Card (BLS) upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Transports patients to and from various diagnostics and therapeutic areas in the Main Hospital
  • Fulfill responsibilities as assigned and/or float basis in response to inpatient' needs across all departments of the Hospital.
  • Picks up specimen/labs from units and delivers to labs and blood bank. Picks up blood from blood bank and deliver to units.
  • Perform other duties that further the customer service needs of the unit, such as answering ASCOM phones and removing empty beds and stretchers from unit hallways upon request.
  • Ascertains patient name, destination, mode of travel, time and other data, following written or verbal instructions.
  • Assists the unit nursing staff in transferring patients in and out of bed onto wheelchairs and stretchers and lifting patients with Hoyer lift as well as patient care on units.
  • Respond to emergent and urgent patient and operational issues.
  • Prepares, inspects and cleans transportation equipment prior to transporting patients. Reports incidents and any unsafe equipment to the Transportation Manager for maintenance and repair.
  • Transports deceased patients to the morgue.
  • Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are related and appropriate to the position and area. The above responsibilities are a general description of the level and nature of the work assigned to this classification and are not to be considered as all-inclusive.
