About The Position

Since 1984, Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS) has built a national reputation for excellence. With over 250 physicians, 220 nurse practitioners and physician assistants and nearly 100 locations in our network. Utilizing innovative clinical research, cutting-edge technologies, and advanced treatments, we are committed to providing world-class cancer care. FCS is recognized by the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) with a national Clinical Trials Participation Award, offering patients access to more clinical trials than any private oncology practice in Florida. Patients have access to ground-breaking therapies in a community setting and may participate in national clinical research studies. In the past five years, the majority of new cancer drugs approved for use in the U.S. were studied in clinical trials with FCS participation prior to approval. Through a partnership with Sarah Cannon, FCS is one of the largest clinical research organizations in the United States, often leading the nation in initiating research studies and offering ground-breaking new therapies to patients. The Patient Services Specialist (PSS) will handle most clerical duties associated with a medical clinic. The job is structured into various "stations," each with distinct duties, though every PSS employee is required and expected to learn and perform all duties across all front office stations and assist co-workers as needed. The role requires strong copywriting and editing skills, attention to detail, the ability to meet time-sensitive priorities, high organization, and flexibility with changing priorities. The PSS will also perform other assigned duties and projects.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED required
  • Demonstrated strong copywriting and editing skills
  • Attention to detail and the ability to consistently meet time-sensitive priorities
  • Highly organized with the ability to be flexible, according to changing priorities
  • Critical thinking skills including solid problem solving, analysis, decision-making, planning, time management and organizational skills
  • Detailed oriented with the ability to exercise independent judgment
  • Developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, diplomacy, tact, conflict management, delegation skills, and diversity awareness
  • Ability to work effectively with sensitive and confidential material and sometimes emotionally charged matters
  • Good command of the English language
  • Effective communication skills (oral, written, presentation)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required
  • Valid state Driver’s License for travel to satellite offices and offsite meetings
  • Compliance with the company Driver Safety Operations and Motor Vehicle Records Check Policy is required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the healthcare field is highly preferred
  • Second language is an asset but not required
