The Patient Services Specialist 1, with direct oversight, provides administrative support in a physician office, clinic or other operational area that assists patients, to ensure high quality, patient-centered care. Duties include patient relations, check-in and check-out, scheduling, insurance verification and answering phones. This role involves assisting with patient duties such as check-in/out, scheduling, insurance verification, and answering phones, arranging follow-up and referral appointments. It also includes patient registration, collecting and verifying insurance, updating demographics, directing patients, accepting and posting payments, generating daily payment reports, verifying cash drawers, and providing accurate patient, medical, financial, or procedural information. The specialist may also discuss financial arrangements, receive and direct phone calls, respond to routine inquiries, handle patient complaints, and assist with medical records.
