About The Position

The Patient Services Specialist I performs routine front-end clinical operations activities, which include, but are not limited to: registration, cashiering, gathering and providing appropriate information, collecting co-pays, and answering the phones. The Patient Services Specialist I interacts with patients, families, clinicians, administrative staff, and third-party payers in a courteous and professional manner.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 0 - 2 years of experience in patient registration required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for complete and accurate patient registration/check-in.
  • Collect co-pays, provide receipts, and provide timely accounting for all collected cash and payments.
  • Identify discrepancies and immediately work with the supervisor to resolve issues.
  • Obtain necessary and required information for both registration and financial documentation needed to complete the check in process.
  • Provide information to callers, as well as direct callers to the correct destination.
  • Respond to patients, families, and clinic issues in a timely and professional manner, provide routine financial benefits, and seek assistance from the supervisor when obtaining answers to resolve patient issues.
  • Maintain a general and updated understanding of insurance requirements as they relate to the Care Center.
  • Retrieve and assess system information related to insurance authorization for patient services from the Patient Access Department.
  • Monitor Epic work que for tracking internal/external consults.
