The Patient Service Representative in the Imaging Department is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate electronic health records, ensuring patient identification for safety, and managing patient registration processes including demographic, guarantor, and insurance information. This role involves discussing and collecting co-pays and other patient financial responsibilities, understanding insurance plans, and referring patients to Financial Advocates when necessary. The representative must ensure compliance with various government agencies and regulations like HIPAA and EMTALA, obtain required patient signatures, and may handle appointment scheduling, cancellations, and providing detailed test preparation information. They also perform visit closure tasks, educate patients on the patient portal, and maintain a welcoming and professional environment through excellent customer service, telephone communication, and public relations. Additional duties may include e-scanning documents, managing faxes and inbasket messages, monitoring electronic health record work queues, and assisting with orientation and training.
