About The Position

MedStar is seeking two Patient Service Coordinators (PSC) to support high‑volume outpatient practices in the Montgomery County area. This is a long‑term opportunity for candidates with healthcare front‑desk, registration, or patient access experience who are eager to grow within a large hospital network. Patient Service Coordinators are the first point of contact for patients and play a critical role in delivering an excellent patient experience. The ideal candidate is professional, proactive, detail‑oriented, and personable, with strong knowledge of patient registration and insurance verification.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • 2+ years of healthcare experience, specifically in registration, admissions, or patient access.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and insurance verification.
  • Experience with Epic, EMR, or EHR systems.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a calm, professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
  • Strong computer skills and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with patient data management and medical records.
  • High‑volume scheduling experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage patient intake and registration, including screening for emergent conditions.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, explain patient financial responsibility, and collect co‑payments at time of service.
  • Accurately schedule appointments, referrals, and follow‑ups.
  • Answer phones professionally, triage and prioritize calls, and route messages appropriately.
  • Prepare, scan, upload, and index patient documentation into the electronic medical record.
  • Prepare patient charts and support one provider per day.
  • Handle administrative follow‑up tasks including faxing records, scheduling procedures, and patient messaging.
  • Maintain compliance with departmental policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
