Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related healthcare area required.
5 years of Clinical experience OR experience in risk, liability or loss control at the organizational level is required.
Ability to work with a variety of Microsoft office software systems.
Analytical ability to prepare, review and present statistical data.
Interpersonal skills to work with management and physicians, and all levels of staff.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in Nursing in preferred.
Certification in Quality Management from Health Care Quality Council Management preferred

Responsibilities

Deliver ongoing patient safety education, both formal and informal, to hospital staff across all departments.
Investigate patient safety risks through rounds, chart reviews, interviews, inspections, and other methods.
Ensure compliance with the hospital’s Patient Safety Plan, objectives, and national patient safety goals.
Monitor and implement regulatory requirements from federal and state agencies related to patient safety.
Review safety occurrences with physicians, managers, and department heads, identify trends, and recommend actions.
Maintain investigative, claim, and legal files with strict confidentiality; assist legal counsel during litigation.
Communicate significant safety events and potential claims promptly through established reporting mechanisms.
Contribute to hospital-wide performance improvement by gathering and analyzing data in collaboration with peers.
Participate in the on-call rotation to remain informed of patient safety incidents as they occur.
Act as a role model to promote and sustain a strong culture of patient safety throughout the organization.
