UPMC McKeesport is currently seeking an organized and detail-minded individual to fill a casual Clerk – Radiology role. This position will mainly be scheduled for a daylight shift Monday thru Friday - shifts are rotating with the earliest start time at 6 am and the latest end time at 6 pm. Purpose: Provides a variety of clerical services for diagnostic radiology and related departments. Coordinates and communicates between the departments of Radiology, CT, Nuclear Medicine, MRI, Cardiac Cath Lab and the Magee Women's Imaging Suite.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or the equivalent required.
  • General office experience preferred.
  • Computer knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions.
  • Oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support at the departmental Imaging Check-In Desk and ensure a positive customer service atmosphere.
  • Receive and direct patients and visitors.
  • Provide necessary information and forms to out-patients.
  • Provide appropriate communication to staff in all Imaging areas and assist with any patient questions or concerns.
  • Verify patient's orders physician information.
  • Schedule outpatient examinations as necessary within the current Radiology Management computer system, according to the physician's orders.
  • Notify modality of patient arrival and inform them of any special concerns or necessary precautions.
  • Manage patients and patients flow through use of the hospital Patient Tracking System.
  • Transfer of patients back to the nursing unit and/or other department for additional testing.
  • Notify department of patient arrival and inform them of any special concerns.
  • Receive all incoming telephone calls; screen and direct all calls using proper telephone etiquette.
  • Answer routine questions regarding departmental policies, procedures, and operations.
  • Prepare all request for CDs and/or Power Sharing of images.
  • Fax patient reports in accordance with HIPPA guidelines.
  • Assist with verification of daily billing reports.
  • Escort out-patient to next area of testing or to the parking garage, etc.
