About The Position

Patient Safety Operations Intern What you will be doing: The Patient Safety Intern works collaboratively within a team of highly qualified professionals to leverage technology and standardized approaches to enable Premier Patient Safety Organization (PSO) members to continually improve patient safety at their organizations. This position will be responsible for curating available resources for patient safety best practices. Additionally, the Summer Patient Safety Intern will work collaboratively and independently on internal growth projects. The role of the Summer Patient Safety Intern is to actively participate within the Premier PSO team to determine our member’s needs, perform gap analysis, evaluate potential solutions, develop presentation materials, and assist in the implementation of recommended improvements, while balancing internal project needs.

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time
  • Be adaptive and change priorities quickly; meet deadlines

  • Operate computer programs and software
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences in person and in electronic formats.
  • Day-to-day contact with others (co-workers and/or the public)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare, business, finance, other related medical fields
  • Demonstrated interest in healthcare performance improvement and/ or patient safety
  • Demonstrated capability for literature search and review
  • Demonstrated capability to lead and show value from their efforts
  • Excel, PowerPoint, Familiarity with web design a plus
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree

Responsibilities

  • Search and review literature related to patient safety best practices and develop educational content for inclusion in the Premier PSO website.
  • Search and review available on-line resources for patient safety and make recommendations for inclusion in Premier PSO resources.
  • Participate in identifying business and technical problems and work with team to create innovative solutions.
  • Use expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel (Pivot Tables and Vlookups), PowerPoint, Access, project management software (e.g., MS Project) and flowcharting software (e.g., Visio) to create deliverables accurately, with attention to detail, and on time.
  • Lead internal growth initiative and/ or project
  • Complete all required training requirements.
