About The Position

The Patient Safety Attendant position at Atrium Health Cleveland, part of Advocate Health, is a part-time role focused on maintaining a safe environment for patients. This involves continuous observation of patients as delegated by a Registered Nurse, documenting relevant information during the observation period, and performing handoff communication with the Registered Nurse. Attendants are also responsible for assisting the nursing team in maintaining a ligature-resistant or ligature-free environment and notifying the licensed nurse of immediate patient safety, care, and staff needs. Fostering positive and professional communication between patients and staff and adhering to all policies and procedures are also key aspects of the role. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic Life Support Certification required.
  • CPI certification required prior to conducting patient observation.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe environment and remain with patient always to provide the appropriate level of observation to patient as delegated by the Registered Nurse.
  • Appropriately document information that is required during the patient observation experience.
  • Perform handoff communication with the Registered Nurse regarding pertinent patient information.
  • Assist nursing team in maintaining a ligature-resistant or ligature free environment as appropriate to the clinical setting.
  • Notify and update the licensed nurse of immediate patient safety, patient care, and staff needs.
  • Fosters positive and professional communication between patients and staff.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures.
