About The Position

The Patient Safety Assistant (PSA) plays a vital role in supporting the well-being and safety of patients within the Henry Ford Health System. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the PSA is responsible for ensuring a safe environment and providing one-on-one observation and support to patients. Why Henry Ford Health System? Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor patient activity and behavior, promptly reporting changes to the RN in accordance with established protocols.
  • Assist patients with daily activities, including feeding, bathing, toileting, and ambulating.
  • Offer companionship and engage patients in enjoyable activities such as reading, card games, or conversation.
  • Ensure the patient's comfort and dignity while maintaining a safe environment.
  • Adhere to the philosophy, mission, and values of Henry Ford Health System in all interactions and tasks.
  • Operate monitoring equipment (if assigned to monitor role) and alert nursing staff of any notable changes or concerns.
