About The Position

The Patient Representative is responsible for performing billing, collecting, and accounts receivable transaction processing, and for handling billing inquiries for the Hospital and Clinic. Referrals, posting charges, payments for insurances, refunds and adjustments. This position will also cover for hospital patient registrations, switchboard functions, and cashier duties. The Shift: 16 hours per week, works 2 days a week with the option to pick up additional hours. Hours: . 7:00am – 3:30pm Sunday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Holidays Pay: Starts at $17.82, increases with experience. Mitchell County Regional Health Center is in Osage, Iowa located in Mitchell County, which has a population of 10,600 people. MCRHC is a 25-bed critical access hospital, including a Level 4 Trauma Center Emergency Room seeing 3,200 visits annually. The Surgical Services department performs over 1,300 procedures annually, including specialties General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Urology, Ophthalmology, Pain management, and Podiatry. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must have experience with or course work in medical terminology or be willing to obtain within one year in the position.
  • Must have one to three years' experience in the health care setting.
  • Six months of office experience, preferably in ambulatory setting such as a medical office.
  • Basic computer skills, ability to operate ten key calculator efficiently, and must be able to interact well with a variety of customers.
  • The ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of people is required.
  • Detail oriented, ability to multitask and able to organize work with frequent interruptions.
  • The ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work with people in a courteous manner

Nice To Haves

  • Post-high school education is desirable.
  • Computer experience and knowledge of medical billing is preferred.
