About The Position

We are looking for a Patient Representative to join our collaborative team at Memorial Health! This role involves greeting patients and visitors upon entry to the facility, providing excellent patient experiences. Key responsibilities include completing patient registrations by collecting demographic, guarantor, and financial information both in person and via telephone. The representative will validate patient insurance coverage using real-time eligibility tools, request payments for co-payments and prior balances, and manage a cash drawer. Other duties include collecting and scanning patient photo IDs and insurance cards to the EMR system, explaining patient forms and requesting signatures, and encouraging MyChart activation. The position also requires initiating interpreter services for non-English speaking patients, completing downtime procedures, assisting with downtime recovery, reviewing work quality, performing self-audits, and managing EMR work queues to support a smooth claims process.

Requirements

  • Completion of high school education or equivalent
  • Proficient in Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills
  • Telecommunications experience
  • Background in Patient Access with a general understanding of the role that Patient Access has on the hospital Revenue Cycle
  • Attains American Heart Association’s BLS certification within first thirty (30) days of employment, maintains continuous certification
  • Attends Behavioral Health De-escalation Training Class (within six months of hire)

Responsibilities

  • Reviews quality of work and performs self-audits, assists with the management of several EMR work queues to support a smooth claims process.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
