This position primarily supports and assists patients with checking in and checking out, including registration, and completion of coding and charging. The role involves greeting patients, ensuring accurate appointment and insurance information, obtaining data for correct billing, processing new patient registrations, collecting appropriate fees and co-pays, preparing patient insurance, disability, and claim forms, and following cash control procedures. Responsibilities also include balancing Patient Registration Services close-outs and daily bank deposits, balancing the cash bag, maintaining eligibility information in the computer system, assisting walk-ins and urgent care patients, making and distributing new patient medical charts, assisting patients with routine questions, answering incoming phone calls, scheduling transportations, and maintaining a clean and professional front office area. The specialist must maintain strict confidentiality following all HIPAA rules and regulations. All duties are to be performed accurately and in a timely manner, maintaining clinical competencies and the highest level of customer service, exercising tact and courtesy, and adhering to customer service expectations in all communication forms. Participation in educational programs is also expected.
