Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in patient registration, medical office, or customer service environment preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare insurance processes.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and electronic health record (EHR) software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner, providing assistance with the registration process.
  • Collect, verify, and enter patient demographic, insurance, and financial information accurately into the healthcare system.
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to appointments to ensure coverage and reduce billing issues.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements in handling sensitive information.
  • Coordinate with clinical and administrative staff to resolve registration issues and facilitate timely patient access to services.
  • Manage appointment scheduling and provide patients with necessary instructions and information regarding their visits.
  • Handle patient inquiries and concerns related to registration, insurance, and billing with empathy and professionalism.
  • Update and maintain accurate patient records and documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
