About The Position

The Pediatric Gastroenterology (GI) team is one of the largest and most highly specialized groups within pediatric care. We are nationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a top destination for exceptional pediatric GI services. Our team cares for patients from newborn through 18 years of age, managing the full spectrum of gastrointestinal conditions. We provide comprehensive care for a wide range of diagnoses, including constipation, reflux, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), motility disorders, liver disease, and nutritional challenges such as TPN and short‑gut syndrome. Within this collaborative environment, the Liver Nurse Navigator plays a vital role. This position works directly in clinic as part of a multidisciplinary team, performing hands‑on assessments such as FibroScan testing and delivering patient and family education. Behind the scenes, the Liver Nurse Navigator ensures seamless, high‑quality care through responsibilities such as: Triage of acutely ill patients Monitoring laboratory results Coordinating care plans, including medications, referrals, and procedures such as liver biopsies Supporting the complex needs of children both before and after liver transplant (in coordination with our transplant navigators) Our liver program cares for patients with a variety of conditions, including nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, hepatitis, and numerous genetic and metabolic disorders. This role is ideal for a nurse who thrives in a dynamic, team‑centered environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional, patient-centered pediatric care.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
  • Minimum of two years of RN experience in an acute care setting.
  • BSN Degree Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Certification in the appropriate specialized field within 2 years of being in the position required.

Responsibilities

  • Triage of acutely ill patients
  • Monitoring laboratory results
  • Coordinating care plans, including medications, referrals, and procedures such as liver biopsies
  • Supporting the complex needs of children both before and after liver transplant (in coordination with our transplant navigators)
  • Coordinate the patient's care to increase the efficiency and quality of care that is delivered to the patient.
  • Will be the patient advocate and care for them in a highly supportive and personal manner and also will serve as a liaison to ensure that patients and families receive resources and services as needed.
