About The Position

Overview of Position: Responsible for the follow up of patient balance accounts.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1-2 years' experience in health insurance and/or healthcare industry knowledge is required.
• Good oral and written skills
• Excellent computer skills
• Knowledge of insurance industry
• Medical terminology requires strong analytical skills
• Detailed oriented with strong organizational skills
• Ability to be flexible with changing priorities, work volume, procedures, and variety of tasks
• Must be comfortable working and making decisions independently
• Must be able to multitask
• Excellent customer service skills are a must
• Must possess the ability to communicate in the dominant language of the geographic region
• Must be able to lift 30 pounds
• Vision and hearing corrected to within normal limits is required
• Must have manual dexterity to key in data; utilize computer, grab, grip, hold, tear, cut, sort, and reach

• Associate degree/certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist with assuring departmental goals are achieved in given parameters.
• Provide service excellence in all aspects of work.
• Establish and monitor payment arrangement with patients using established guidelines.
• Complete necessary research for account assignment.
• Resolve patient concerns regarding outstanding balances.
• Process return mail based on department guidelines.
• Responds to incoming calls and makes outbound calls as required to resolve outstanding patient balances.
• Document all calls within established procedures.
• Communicate appropriately with all customers to include, updating insurance, and routing accounts to appropriate service areas when needed.
• Collect patient payments via telephone.
• Perform work in accordance with regulatory requirements, policies/procedures and departmental standards in regards to HIPAA and other government requirements.
• Other assigned duties.
