The Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute at St. Vincent’s Medical Center has been designated as the first Care Partner of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) in the United States. Hartford HealthCare is set to open a new state-of-the-art cancer center at 4185 Black Rock Turnpike near the Merritt Parkway in Fairfield in April 2025. The 25,000-square-foot facility will offer chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, surgical consultations, imaging and laboratory testing on site. The Patient Financial Navigator works with patients and their families to lessen stress or hardship associated with the expense of treatment. Patient financial navigators assist patients in understanding what their health insurance policies may cover as well as their out-of-pocket costs. To help with the cost of healthcare services, find cost-effective treatment options, and enhance access to necessary health care services, patient financial navigators may also assist patients in applying for financial aid, locating charitable care funds, and/or creating payment plans. Additionally, the role helps to answer financial calls and inquiries from patients, providers, and coworkers, when necessary, also provides cost estimates.
