About The Position
This full-time Patient Escort I position at Christiana Hospital – Newark Campus involves supporting patient care by ensuring safe and timely transportation throughout the hospital. The role operates on an evening shift from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, 40 hours per week, and requires working every other weekend and participating in a holiday rotation. Key responsibilities include safely transporting patients via various means, assisting clinical staff with transfers, maintaining transport equipment, attending training, and adhering to safety protocols. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, reliable, and committed to professionalism and confidentiality.
Requirements
- High school diploma preferred.
- Must be able to obtain BLS certification upon hire.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods.
- Basic computer and smartphone proficiency.
- Knowledge of hospital layout and body mechanics.
- Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism.
Nice To Haves
- 2 years of customer service experience preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients via stretcher, wheelchair, bed, or specialized vehicle to and from various hospital departments.
- Assist clinical staff with patient transfers.
- Maintain and care for transport equipment.
- Attend training sessions and departmental meetings.
- Follow safety protocols and report any hazards or unsafe conditions.
