Patient Care Technician - 7E Med Surg
About The Position
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) reports to the Nurse Manager and operates under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role involves performing multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. The position is with the Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) at the CHS - MedSurg 7E (Main) cost center. It is a regular employee position with 36 scheduled weekly hours, involving 3 12-hour rotating shifts per week, including weekends and holidays.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required (for Patient Care Technician I)
- High school diploma/GED and ONE of the following requirements must be met (for Patient Care Technician II): Associate or Bachelor's degree; At least 1 year work experience in a .6 FTE PCT I position at MUSC CHS; 1 year of experience in a healthcare facility; Active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution; Active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution; Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution
- Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire
- Maintain Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider
