About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) reports to the Nurse Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the PCT performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (for Patient Care Technician I)
• High school diploma/GED and ONE of the following requirements must be met for Patient Care Technician II: Associate or Bachelor's degree; At least 1 year work experience in a .6 FTE PCT I position at MUSC CHS; 1 year of experience in a healthcare facility; Active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution; Active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution; Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 2 weeks of hire
• Maintain Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider
