About The Position

Join Our Team as a Part-Time Patient Care Technician - Specialist! Are you passionate about making a difference in patients' lives? We are looking for a dedicated Patient Care Technician - Specialist to join our dynamic Emergency Department. Rotating and holiday/weekend shifts are required. The position offers opportunities for growth, with a clear career ladder from Nursing Assistant to Patient Care Technician - Lead. A starting pay rate of $18.40/hour for Nursing Assistants is offered, based on experience and qualifications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must also have either a) 2 years of general healthcare experience and meet requirements of Patient Care Technician - Senior title, OR b) 1 year of experience (defined above) and enrollment in PT/OT/PA program with completion of at least one clinical rotation, or c) 1 year of experience (defined above) and completion of a bachelor's degree in a health sciences field.
  • Annual completion of a professional contribution to be determined after hire.
  • Successful completion of patient care technician specialist class.
  • Successful completion of basic information system training.
  • Microcomputer experience preferred.
  • Nursing Student that has completed one clinical rotation preferred Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic or currently enrolled in an EMT or Paramedic program preferred.
  • Successful completion of a basic arrhythmia course and annual competency required.
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Clearances with renewal: Act 31, 33, 34, 73

Nice To Haves

  • Microcomputer experience preferred.
  • Nursing Student that has completed one clinical rotation preferred Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic or currently enrolled in an EMT or Paramedic program preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient care tasks, including ADLs, point-of-care testing, and basic medical procedures (e.g., IV/foley insertion/removal, specimen collection, wound care, etc.).
  • Assist with physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies; report patient status changes to RNs.
  • Participate in patient/family education, quality initiatives, and department projects.
  • Adhere to safety policies, document accurately, and complete work efficiently
  • Transport cardiac-monitored patients and perform advanced tasks based on departmental needs (e.g., EKGs, NG tube removal).
  • Engage in continuous learning, feedback, and self-review.
