Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a full-time, nightshift Patient Care Tech (PCT) for their Cardiac Telemetry Unit in Suffolk, VA. The unit, known as the Stroke/Telemetry Unit (2 South), is a 25-bed unit that provides care for patients with various cardiac conditions including heart failure, cardiac rhythm disturbances, newly implanted permanent pacemakers and defibrillators, post-coronary interventions, post-ablation, and myocardial infarctions. It also cares for pre/post catheterization, acute stroke, and post-procedural neuro cases. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:5, and Patient Care Techs assist with an average ratio of 1:8. This unit is described as a well-supported team, suitable for both new graduates and experienced Registered Nurses looking to advance their cardiac skills. Sentara Obici Hospital is a certified stroke center and holds Magnet designation for excellence in patient care. Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. They provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse. They also observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any change to the nursing staff.
