About The Position

Patient Care Specialist I – Ambulatory Full Time | Location: Richmond, VA Position Overview: The Patient Care Specialist I is a member of a multidisciplinary team who provides direct support to patients in a residential addiction recovery environment. This role is responsible for continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling appropriate behaviors while providing structure and observation for patients entering treatment. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • General knowledge of or willingness to learn Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word)
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing and insurable for company driving
  • Ability to travel locally up to 10% for patient transportation; no overnight travel required
  • CPR/MANDT certification (training provided)

Nice To Haves

  • Six (6) months of experience in a behavioral healthcare setting
  • Basic knowledge of addiction and the recovery process

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and structure of the patient environment
  • Serve as a resource for new patients by introducing them to peers and teammates and encouraging program participation
  • Provide continuous patient care, supervision, and interaction
  • Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional approach with patients and teammates
  • Utilize de-escalation techniques, active listening, and appropriate boundaries
  • Conduct safety checks according to individualized supervision guidelines
  • Document patient information accurately and timely
  • Provide or coordinate patient transportation as needed
  • Assist with AMA identification and intervention
  • Perform other duties as assigned
