About The Position

The ETSU College of Nursing, Office of Practice invites applications for a full-time Patient Care Representative for our Johnson City Downtown Day Center. The Patient Care Representative supports clinic operations by managing patient records, handling financial transactions, and maintaining accurate data and filing systems. This role serves as a primary point of contact for unhoused community members, assisting with homeless services, inquiries and facilitating communication between patients and staff.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of business English, punctuation and spelling.
  • Ability to make mathematical computations.
  • Ability to use computer applications for word processing, spreadsheets and databases in Windows environment.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work with diverse employees and patients.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge and understanding of, and the ability to abide by, health center policies on patient confidentiality, informed consent, non-discrimination and by code of ethics and standards of practice
  • Ability to project positive attitude about the health center, and offers services to ensure positive experience
  • Ability to work as a team with colleagues and providers
  • Ability to address concerns raised during or after an encounter by encouraging provider to make appropriate referral and/or assisting with making of appointment with right resource and booking interpreter as needed.
  • Ability to work well under pressure to manage stressful situations
  • Ability to be flexible to meet scheduling needs and handle often unpredictable changes
  • Ability to use sound judgment and confidence
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to be detail-oriented and accurate.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of clerical, administrative, and/or customer service work experience. Relevant part-time and/pr student worker experience may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Two (2) years of experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Interest in working with underinsured and unhoused community members.
